WCIRB slashes bonus for Randy Mellin by 58%, No raise either

Though other insurance rating workers in the management team at the WCIRB received the same or higher bonus & incentive pay for 2010 the bonus amount for Chief Information Officer Randall J Mellin was reduced by 58% for 2010. The Form 990 filings reviewed by the BOIRWC indicated Randall J Mellin was paid bonus & incentive pay of $34,113 in 2009 but only $14,077 in 2010.

WCIRB President Robert G Mike landed bonus pay of $88,967 or about 25% of his 2010 base compensation. Also leading was Chief Actuary David M Bellusci with bonus pay of $64,798 or about 23% of his 2010 base compensation. Randall J Mellin's bonus rate of less then 6% of base compensation for 2010 left him in the back of the pack of the also rans.

The base compensation component reported for Randall J Mellin had been $240,085 in 2009 and only went up to  $240,230 for 2010, really not a change at all, less then a dollar per scheduled workday, likely just accounting/timing differences. However, it looks like everyone else got a raise.

A tough year for WCIRB Chief Information Officer Randy Mellin. What did he do to deserve it? Probably not much.
